Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then found multiple other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report initial examinations show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the community for details.
A senior political figure commented the vandalism made him stunned and required to be solved promptly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
